Boot Camp will not support Windows 7 on some Macs

Apple has announced that it will support for Windows 7 in Mac OS X Snow Leopard's Boot Camp utility by the end of the year via a software update, but exclude support for some Macs sold in 2006.

Snow Leopard, an upgrade or an update?
Apple has added a few new feature to this OS. The
entire OS is now 64 bit environment. Apple does
save on storge with snow leopard. Improvements
to leopard are better workflow, UI enhancements, & others.
Exchange has support for ical, mail & Adrress book.
In all snow leopard is more like an update then a
upgrade!

Mac Tips: Empty Trash without Preview Blocking

When you open a file in Preview, you may have noticed that Preview marks that file as in-use until you close the application. So you could literally have opened something days ago, and if you haven’t closed Preview, it’s still laying claim to that file.

If you want to delete the file, it can be a pain.

Mac OS X Hints has a simple solution to this problem, though. Open Script Editor and create the following AppleScript.

tell application “Preview”
quit


tell application “Finder”
empty trash

i prefer a linux based server over other O.S based servers.

Microsoft Patent Ruling Is Overthrown

A US federal court overthrew an earlier ruling in a patent-infringement case that would have seen Microsoft pay $388 million in damages to Uniloc. The case involves the activation technologies Microsoft uses in products such as Windows and Office.

Uniloc's case against Microsoft has been ongoing since September 2003

Problem: Apple Xserve Diagnostics (AXD) may display an incorrect number of processors and cores


Solution: View the correct number of processors or cores by following the steps below.

1. Restart the computer in Mac OS X Server.
2. Click the Apple menu.
3. Select About this Mac....
4. Click More Info.
5. See the correct number of processors and cores in the Hardware Overview.
